Tombstone came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning with 2 runs. After an out was recorded, Barry Bonds initiated the scoring spurt when he drew a walk. Cabrera stepped up next and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 5th of the season). The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. The victory went to Armando Benitez(1-1) who went 2 innings, allowing 1 run. The losing pitcher was Francisco Rodriguez(1-1) in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 walks. 'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Cabrera said. 'Whenever I would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
